[Spell] Undisturbed Slumber
« on: February 19, 2009, 10:04:20 am »
This is a new spell, useful when stealth is required or for villains to use as a kidnapping tool...

Rank 1 Spell

Undisturbed Slumber
Alternate Names: Beauty's Slumber, Enchanted Slumber, Sleep of Ages.
Area of Effect: One living creature.
     Range: Touch.
Duration: One hour per point of the caster's base Air score or until the target would waken naturally without an outside stimulus, whichever is longer; or until the target is injured.
     Reaction: No.
Effect: The target of the spell sleeps peacefully, no matter what is going on around him, unless he is injured.  The target can be moved, will sleep through loud noises, attempts to wake him, and even such events as being doused in cold water.  Any injury will wake the sleeping victim, however, even if it is not enough to cause a minor wound; this includes cosmetic damage such as a pin-prick, being slapped, or similar actions.

Expanded Lore
     Casting Options:
  • 1 (Unlimited): Increase the base duration determined by the caster's Air score by 1 hour.

  • 3 (1): The target will no longer wake up to just any injury; the target actually has to take
at least a minor wound in order to awaken early.

Ritual Version
The ritual version has much the same effect, only it lasts much longer.  The target is put into a magical slumber (much akin to suspended animation) and does not age, require food, air, or water, and does not suffer from muscular atrophy.  This lasts until the victim takes damage (at least a minor wound) or until a trigger condition (chosen by the caster) is met.

Ritual Variant (Wasting Slumber)
This variant of the ritual version of the spell functions almost identically to the normal ritual version -- except that the victim is not in suspended animation and ages, requires air, food, and water, and will suffer from muscular atrophy as normal.  The victim may well die of dehydration if neither awakened nor given medical care.  Note that injury will still wake the victim, but most individuals will likely assume the victim is in a coma.
